You finally have some contacts and you are ready for the interview process. So much is written about the interview process and there are the standard rules. Show up on time, research the companies before you go, dress professionally, and send thank you notes after the interview.
However, there is more to it than that if you really want the job. Once I was one of three candidates for a position and honestly, I was the least desirable. The woman who hired me told me I was the third choice but she ended up hiring me since I seemed to want the job so much. Interestingly, she ended up becoming my mentor and a good friend. You just never know what course a relationship might take!
My experience has been that I could any job I ever wanted. Now why is that? I think it is because I just expected I would get it. It is amazing what that confidence does for you in the interview process. “Feeling” that I was the best candidate for the position and they should hire me is calming.
I’m NOT saying you should be cocky, but, why not believe in yourself? Think about why you would be a great asset for their company. What are your best qualities? How can you make a difference for them and their company? Having those questions answered in your mind before the interview gives you something really important to say. You can speak with confidence about how your background makes you invaluable. And you are making it about their needs not just your own.

Maria, I've had that same experience, of getting any job I ever wanted! There's no rhyme or reason to it, other than that's simply what I wanted! The mind is such a powerful tool...
