I work with a man who is a technical designer. His job is to oversee the production of a coat to make sure it comes out the way it was ordered. He has been working in my division for 3 years. During that time he saw a lot of things we could improve upon in the running of this brand. He first suggested that he take a trip to China to look for new factories and mills. Great idea!! So, of course, off he went. His trip was a great success as he found us some excellent new factories and fabrics that we could implement immediately. Then he looked at other ways in which he could save us money and time so that we could run more efficiently. Also a success. So even though he is not someone who can get a new order that directly brings money to the bottom line he brought value that will increase our profitability. Sounds like a person who deserves a raise. How can you add value, save money, or bring new business to your company. That is one of the easiest ways to justify getting a raise. Money in translates into more money for you. Constantly look for ways to add value to your company and you will see your salary grow.
