The first 3 things you must do to recreate your wardrobe is as follows:
1. Figure out your life style. Are you a stay at home mother who needs more casual clothes or a business person who must dress professional. Or maybe you are both. This will determine the kinds of clothes you need.
2. Figure out your body type. Are you curvy, plus size, an apple shape, maybe boyish, or petite? The list is endless, but knowing your shape will help you determine what you should look for when shopping.
3. You have to find a shopping partner who's opinion you trust to tell you the truth about how you look, but, that also has the taste level you respect. Many times when our body changes drastically we are unable to see ourselves as we really are but how we used to be. So having your partner is important.
You can then sketch out what your basic needs are. First go for the woven pieces you need. Enough with the baggy sweat pants that you wear because you don't know what else to put on. Baggy clothing makes you look fat when you are overweight and fat when you are thin. They are a no no. Your first pieces to look for are your bottoms. for the casual dressers - jeans are part of the uniform. For the professional woven pants in twill, gab, flannel, or novelty are the way to go.
Go to the store you like with your shopping buddy and try on a whole slew of different styles to see what looks good on you.
My next blog will discuss what shape pants/jeans look best on what body type.
